Mission and Vision
South Asia Voluntary Enterprise (SAVE) was set up in 1994 by a group of Indian professionals settled in the United Kingdom, and has funded since then altogether 20 projects in India. Initially it was funded through individual supporters and was run by volunteers. SAVE draws upon the expertise and support of experienced volunteers from appropriate professional backgrounds in different areas of the United Kingdom. It now works in collaboration with well known local NGO's and delivers its services in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
SAVE’s aims are framed within the context of working as a non-political and non-religious organisation for the relief of poverty and suffering of the poor by:
Raising - awareness on development and social issues
Improving - health and education of the under-privileged and illiterate
Promoting - mother and child care, hygiene, nutrition and sanitation
Enhancing - women’s rights and equality
Developing - skills for income generation among the unemployed
These are to be achieved through the development of sustainable projects in the areas of Primary Education, Primary Health Care, Mother and Child Care, Women’s Rights and Empowerment, Skills Development and Income Generating activities that would provide life-changing opportunities for slum and street children, and unskilled and unemployed adults.
