    Puspamoyee Basu Vidhalaya

    A small non-formal primary school for 35 street children run by a group of dedicated middle class ladies of Kolkata. SAVE-India is one of the main donors for these children’s education and mid-day meal.

    Established in 1943 during the infamous Bengal Famine to look after the orphans. This home still continues looking after similar problems. SAVE (India) has sanctioned Rs.100000/- this year to improve their dormitory.

    SAVE-UK with a grant (£54,165.00) from the Lloyds TSB Foundation of Scotland, established a Vocational Training Institute in Kolkata in 2005 in collaboration with CSP.

    SAVE-India is one of the main donors of this primary school with 150 students which include 25 slow learners, 28 special needs children and 15 very backward students needing specialist training.

    Since 1998 SAVE-UK has been sponsoring 6 to 10 young women staying in the ASHI’s ‘Short Stay Home’ for abused young women each year. SAVE-UK has been training them as Auxiliary nurses.

    Since 1998 SAVE-UK is funding the above organization to construct 10 low cost sanitary latrines using the UNICEF approved model. In the process it is creating awareness of general hygiene, sanitation.

SAVE receives International Small Grant from the Scottish Government

Humza Yousaf, Minister for Europe and International Development, said: "Reducing infant mortality and improving the health of children born in one of the poorer parts of India is an important project. Better health and nutrition in a child's early years has lifelong benefits and we are proud to support the work of the South Asia Voluntary Enterprise to help new mothers and their children."

    SAVE-UK has been providing funds regularly for the last 4 years for non-formal primary education of street children in New Delhi, run by Nai Disha , a well known local NGO.


  • Primary education - women prisoners children

    Sneha Sadan Institution in Kanakal

    Bijapur is affected by drought almost every year.300 children from 52 very poor villages live in childrens home while their parents are away seeking their livelihood. Funds are raised by an Indian Doctor specifically for this project and SAVE-UK adds the Gift Aid provided by the UK government .
