Association For Social Health In India

Since 1998 SAVE-UK has been sponsoring 6 to 10 young women staying in the ASHI’s ‘Short Stay Home’ for abused young women each year. SAVE-UK has been training them as Auxiliary nurses, ECG technicians and physiotherapists. Since 2011 SAVE-INDIA has been the sole supporter of beauticians training course run by ASHI.

Calcutta Social Project

Calcutta Social Project

SAVE-UK with a grant (£54,165) from the Lloyds TSB Foundation of Scotland , established a Vocational Training Centre in Kolkata in 2005 in collaboration with CSP. Initially it started training young boys and girls from poor background leading to certification and placement in plumbing, Computing, electrical work, security services and housekeeping. At present it focuses on computer training for young boys and girls.

Korak Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra

Save-India funds “Korak Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra” an NGO which has been running a school for differently abled children for the last two decades. At present they have 30 children with hearing impairment and 26 differently able children.

Puspamoyee Basu Vidhalaya

Giving Support to non-formal primary education for street and slum children has been one of the main activity of SAVE ( SAVE-UK and SAVE-INDIA) since its inception. SAVE-INDIA supports Puspamoyee Basu Vidyalaya which is a school committed towards the under privileged children’s education living in slums. Dr.Renuka Biswas, the founded this school with great difficulty in Prince Anwar Shah road, Kolkata.

Santi Tuberculosis Control Society

Santi Tuberculosis Control Society

SAVE-UK has funded the above organisation for the last two years to construct 20 low cost sanitary latrines using the UNICEF approved model. In the process it is creating awareness of general hygiene, sanitation and other local health issues amongst the rural population in West Bengal.

Swa Sambriddhi

This organisation works in one of the worst slums in Kolkata adjacent to Salt lake. It runs crèche for the children of illiterate working mothers and also runs a school for non-formal primary education of grown up children. Swa Sambriddhi also has been running a primary health care unit for the poor people living in this slum.

Save The Children Home

Established in 1944 after the infamous Bengal Famine to look after the orphans. This home still continues looking after both orphans and abandoned children. Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Pandit, sister of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mrs Maitrayee Bose inaugurated this home.

Tagore Foundation School

Tagore foundation school was founded in Kolkata in 2001 by Mrs. Srabani Sengupta with the task of educating differently able children with special needs. It educates these children with autism, cerebral palsy and Downs syndrome, etc, along with normal children so that they could be rehabilitated in the society.
